Happy Birthday Jesus!

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given: and the government shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

New York Trip

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Scott's family in New York. We learned that Scott's truck was too big to park in Washington DC. And after forty minutes of driving around, we finally decided to head on toward our final destination instead of stopping for "cupcakes" in DC. However, we will return in the future! The ride was fun, especially since I slept most of the way and Scott loves to drive. Yet, we both agree that next time, I will put some miles on the odometer :)

We were extremely excited when we finally saw the sign welcoming us to the wonderful state of New York!! The arrival temperature was a not so inviting 3 whopping degree's! BURR!

Being in the snow reminded us how much we love palm tree's, but we have greatly missed the amazing northern season's as well! We cannot wait to make another trip up north again. Below is a picture of Scott's 3 year old niece Zaria, getting a special pizza made just for her when we went out for dinner with the family. Scott, his sister Amber and I, had a lot of fun together throughout the trip! Thank you to the Wood  family for all of your hospitality and love!! <3 Scott & Sarah

Be Thankful

I am thankful for everyone God has put in my life, at every point of my life; that have helped shape me into who am I today.

I am thankful for the simple things too.
Fragrant Flowers.

A soft Breeze.
Making lemonade ;)

Colorful Moments.

And Beautiful Endings.

Save the Date...

June 11, 2011
Manistee, Michigan

Formal Save the Date to follow in the next few months.

All About Scott

Past:
Scott grew up in Rock City Falls , New York, near Saratoga Springs. He has been a volunteer Firefighter since he was 16 years old. He has one sister named Amberlee, who is considered an Irish Twin because they were born within one year of each other. He has a beautiful niece named Zaria, who will be turning 3 this month. Scott enlisted in the Navy after graduating High School in 2001, and moved down to Florida in 2005.

When Scott and I met in the Summer of 2009, we took our time to not only learn about one another, but to put God's Will first in in every decision, especially our relationship. After praying, fasting, devouring God's word, and pastoral advisement, we began a courtship as oppose to dating. As famously put by a wonderful book, we "Kissed Dating Goodbye" and courted one another with the intention of marriage; providing it was God's will for our future. During this time God enabled us with the tools and experiences necessary to move onward, and still is today. Scott proposed June 5, 2010, in St. Augustine, Florida.
 Present:
Scott is currently a District Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department of the county he resides in. He is devoted and has a passion for being a public servant that I have been blessed to see first hand in action.
He works as a comfort adviser for a heating and cooling corporation providing service and sales, and keeps very busy and dedicated to both jobs.
Together we attend a Baptist Church to continually grow our relationship and faith in Jesus Christ. We love our church and feel as though God has placed us there during this time in our relationship in a magnificent way. Currently we have been involved in a marriage class with a Pastor and his wife that we have come to know and feel blessed to have the friendship of. We are studying God's teaching of marriage and the book "Love and Respect" by Dr. Emmerson throughout the course. This has been one of the most rewarding classes in the preparation of not only our marriage, but always growing relationship.

Future:
Scott aspires to continue as a public servant
in law enforcement. In the meantime he will continue as the Chief of the Fire Department, and working with the current corporation while we determine if God is leading us to plant our roots in Florida or venture back Up-North. This will be a big decision for both of us as God speaks His will for our future career's. Thankfully, we have been provided the opportunity to take one step at time in this process. Eventually, we both feel led to minister the Lord's word, whether it be in the United States or abroad.

*Insert witty title here*

Florida has been amazing, crazy and fun since I moved down here in May of 2009. I have been trying to figure out a way to keep in touch and update everyone without using mass emails. This blog is in hopes to provide a mode of staying in touch and up to date with friends and family. Now comes the commitment from myself to keep you all in the loop:)
Max at the Beach

This summer has been eventful and is going by like a speeding bullet. Last fall I was blessed with a job that was actually related to my dietetics degree and therefore related to my monthly student loan payments. While being a nutrition educator at WIC may not be glamorous, it is experience and in this economy that is priceless. I work directly for the State of Florida, 10 hours days, and it is never dull. Our client intake is excessive and I do enjoy working with young children and pregnant mother's of all ages. A three day weekend has it perks, but during the week I tend to have enough time to eat, shower, and sleep for the most part. If I get the occasional run in during the week I feel blessed.
In June 2009, I decided to try a free trial on Match.com. And this ladies and gentlemen is how I met Scott.  We talked for weeks before meeting in person. We still say to this day that it was like cramming for a final exam because we learned so much about each other during those phone conversations. Our common faith in the Lord has been a wonderful foundation in the development of our relationship. He proposed this past June, at St. Augustine Beach. I will leave the engagement story for our future wedding website:)

A few things I've learned about Florida:
Clearwater Beach, FL* Sanderson Photography
  • It's a long drive to Michigan
  • The day's here are shorter
  • There is not always a palm tree around the corner
  • Going to the beach is the most economical thing to do, if it's not raining
  • Hurricane season is real, and you don't want to live in a flood zone
  • Don't leave your winter coat at home, it actually does get cold here
  • Florida drivers.... well at least you can make a real left turn here
  • Bridges are a way of life, and they are bigger than life
  • Everyone moves slower, maybe because it's so hot
  • Crocodiles cross the road, when you least expect it
  • Bugs come in prehistoric sizes
  • Sea turtles nests are off limits
  • Bonfires are not allowed on the beach
  • You can legally turn left over a double yellow line if it is "safe" to do so
  • Don't leave anything in your car unless you want it to melt
  • And Love Bugs will destroy the paint on your car... beware.
