Our pregnancy is officially full-term! Baby girl can now safely come when she is ready to greet this world. This weekend, Scott assembled our little-ones crib and I am so thankful that he is handy. What a relief to feel that her room is finally fully assembled. We understand that she will not need her crib for awhile, but it is one less thing on our to-do list. The dogs watched very intently while Scott the builder was at work and I believe they are going to both be great big brothers. There are still some finishing touches for the room to add to the walls and bedding of course; we will post the final product soon. We have a few more boxes to open and assemble this weekend to free up the rest of our house, so here's to the final organizing push!
We also celebrated at my sister in-laws baby shower this weekend. Spending time with my bothers family was a lot of fun; my nephew has decided to name our baby snowflake (he name their baby kitchen). Five year-olds have the most amazing imagination! Their baby is due just about two weeks after us and it has been a true blessing to go through this pregnancy with her :) We are excited to meet Baby girls new cousin!
Contractions have been the highlight this week, now daily. In fact, Saturday they went on all afternoon. The good thing is that we got some practice in timing the contractions this weekend! Also, contractions show that she is getting me ready for the "real thing". While some of the contractions have been the infamous braxton hicks, others have been very, and I mean VERY, painful. The kind that make you stop walking and talking. Sunday night was the first night that I woke up every hour in pain, but thankfully I was able to go back to sleep between episodes.
At my last OB appointment, the doctor was happy to hear that I was having contractions and reminded me that my new swollen appendages are normal. She delicately said with a smile that this is the uncomfortable stage; sleep while you can. Work is becoming cumbersome. Besides the fact that a client asked me yesterday if I was ready to pop, my waddle is becoming more and more apparent to everyone. Our next OB appointment is this Thursday, so we will see if these contractions are doing their job in the effacement department. Have I mentioned yet how I can't wait for my maternity leave to start on the 5th of April?! Well, that is, unless our little one decides to make her debut before that ;)
This weeks craving: Vanilla Cupcake Goldfish Graham Crackers
